About StoryRetriever

Built so the work doesn't stop at the office door

StoryRetriever started with a simple problem. SLPs do hours of careful work building visual social narratives that often get printed, handed to a parent, and lost on the way to the car. We built a tool that bridges the gap.

Who built this

StoryRetriever was founded by a small team that includes a software engineer and a Speech-Language Pathologist. We work with practicing SLPs and families to keep the product grounded in what actually happens in therapy and at home.

What we believe

  • Visual social narratives work.

Decades of research, summarized on our research page, back this up.

  • They work best when they make it home.

A printed PDF that lives in a folder is not the same as a story a child can read on the couch the night before a dentist visit.

  • Personalization matters.

A story about "the dentist" is less useful than a story about your child's actual dentist, in the actual room they will sit in.

  • Privacy first.

We do not collect data from children. All data flows through parent or professional accounts.
