“My son used to have major meltdowns at the grocery store. After two weeks with a StoryRetriever story, he walks through the whole routine independently. I cried.”

Questions from parents

Does my child need an account?
No. Children view stories through a shared link or your account. You control what they see. There is no login required for a child to use a story.
Can I use StoryRetriever without an SLP?
Absolutely. Many parents use StoryRetriever independently. You can choose from our template library or build a story from scratch using your own photos and text.
What if my child already has an SLP? Can we share stories?
Yes. Your SLP can create a professional account and share stories directly with you. You'll both see the same story, and any updates your SLP makes appear on your device automatically.
Is it safe for my child to use?
StoryRetriever is designed with COPPA requirements in mind. We never collect data from children, never run ads, and never sell your information. Stories are stored securely and only shared with people you choose.
What ages is StoryRetriever designed for?
Most families use it with children ages 3 to 12, but the approach works for any child who benefits from advance preparation. We have parents using it with toddlers learning bedtime routines and preteens preparing for new social settings.
What if my child has multiple diagnoses (autism + ADHD, autism + anxiety)?
Visual social narratives can help with all three. Children with autism, ADHD, anxiety, sensory processing differences, or developmental delays often benefit from knowing what to expect before a situation. The story stays the same; the diagnosis informs how you frame the content.
Can grandparents or babysitters use stories I create?
Yes. Sharing a story does not require the recipient to create an account. They open the link, the story plays, and they have the same context you do. This is especially useful before drop-offs, sleepovers, or new caregivers.
